چکیده

A monopile is the most conventional structure foundation for offshore wind turbines (OWTs) in world. However, Korean industry has mostly been using jacket type of foundation. The main reason current situation Korea that marine soil consists weak layers sand and clay. Thus, depth to be deep enough satisfy intended serviceability design requirement rotation limit at seabed; a concept alone might insufficient conditions, or otherwise could very expensive, e.g., resulting rock socket installation tip monopile. objective this paper introduce novel hybrid composed supplemental support with three buckets, followed by assessing lateral resistance system through physical experiments finite element (FE) simulations. Namely, 1/64.5 small-scaled models diameter 7 m 5.5 MW OWT were loaded monotonically. results show improves bearing capacity regarding initial stiffness ultimate load. FE analyses corresponding also implemented from model test. numerical results, such as structural member forces deformation, analyzed detail. Additionally, case study analysis was conducted installed representative area. larger than

The Effect of Lateral Loading Parameters on Monopile Behavior Based on Physical Modeling

Monopiles are the most common type of foundation for offshore wind turbines (OWT). Monopiles have been used in more than 80% of the offshore wind turbines. A monopile will be affected by millions of lateral load cycles during the operating period, which will cause its rotation and lateral deformation. The rotation and the deformation are dependent on the soil properties, monopile specification,...
